Title: Amy Johnson's plane at Singapore
Item Name: Amy Johnson

Digital copy of a black and white photograph, showing Amy Johnson's Gipsy Moth biplane 'Jason' at Singapore on 18th May 1930. Landing at an RAF airfield to refuel, she attracted a large crowd of well-wishers. The donor's grandfather was at this time working for C.C. Wakefield Co.Ltd., as the Manager of their Singapore office and representative for all of Malaya (Lord Wakefield had provided Amy with funds towards her aircraft and arranged for it to be refuelled at agreed stops). So he met Amy on landing, arranged for Jason to be refuelled / checked over and waved her off on the next stage of her flight.
