An earlier manor house is said to have been rebuilt in 1791, but the present house is a rebuilding of 1802-9 in the Gothic style, with corner towers, battlements and mullioned windows. Yellow brick with stone dressings. The house was enlarged c. 1870-2 and restored after a fire in 1875. Architects & Craftsmen: Designed by Henry Hakewill with alterations of 1870s by Smith & Brodrick. Grounds landscaped in 1787 by William Eames.
