Copper alloy Northumbrian anonymous blundered styca. Obverse: blundered name [...]VV[..] around cross in ring of pellets. Reverse: moneyer's name [..] VV NN [..] around cross of pellets. The flan of this coin is almost a square, rather than round. From hoard of 28 copper alloy Northumbrian stycas, found by metal detecting at Asselby between November 2018 and January 2019. The coins date to the period 840-867AD. 11 coins belong to the reign of Aethelred II, four to the reign of Osberht and the remainder either have blundered legends or are illegible.
