Wooden hand-pumped fire engine, painted blue and red with lettering in white. Cast iron crank with long wooden handles at either end. The wheels also have metal bands and there are metal reinforcements at other points. Made in London. The maker's name is painted on the back of the central column and 'St John's Beverley' is painted on the sides, indicating that this was the Minster parish fire engine. Remains of leather strap at centre on one side (the matching one is lost). Date painted on front and back. Panelled construction. Metal handles on sides and large handle at back for pushing. Most metal parts painted black.
