Cabinet print photograph of a young woman in a dark dress with frilled sleeves and embroidered bodice. She is standing with her arms resting on a chair. Column visible to her right (a painted backdrop?) Matthew Boak had premises in Malton, Bridlington (5 Promenade) and Driffield, operating between 1876 and 1906 when he died. His sons assisted in the business. On card mount, with maker's details in gold beneath and a trademark "B" on a red field. The reverse has an engraving of Boak's premises at 5 Promenade, which was next to the Gazette office. The business was set up in 1859.
