Title: Flint core
Item Name: Manufacture and Processing


Flint core, of sub triangular section, with broad flakes detached from two adjacent sides and with long narrow parallel flakes removed from the third, probably by bipolar working. A dense creamy patina may suggest the object has been exposed to a calcareous environment over a prolonged period. Probably late Mesolithic (7000-4000BC approx). Found at Weedley Springs, Welton (grid reference SE 970301).
