Title: Banjo Mandolin

Description:

Eight string mandolin with banjo-style drum resonator. Played by Edith Blanch Dunn (1896-1980) in a trio of musicians who accompanied hymns at the Shepard Memorial Mission Chapel, Grovehill, Beverley. This chapel was later demolished and replaced with the Latimer Memorial Church. Instrument purchased c.1923 by William Watson Dunn (1888-1943) for his wife. The trio consisted of the banjo mandolin played by Edith Blanch Dunn, a banjo played by Miss Shields and a piano played by a gentleman who later emigrated to Australia.
