Description:

Quantity of items belonging to Miss Rita Hebb who lived in Beverley, off Norwood. She was a music teacher and later became Head of Music at Longcroft School. She was also involved in drama, and these items were used as props in amateur dramatic productions. She later married a man called Mosley who was also involved in amateur dramatics. The items include 3 ladies parasols; (1)beige in a pale lilac cover with zip. It has a curved cane handle with a tassel attatched to it, and at the other end a long metal tip, L:87cm. (2) Black with wooden shaft and immitation bone handle with decorative brass to both ends, L:86cm. (3)Brown and cream panelled with brown frill around edge. On the cream panels are the initials R.C.H in ornate lettering. The handle is curved plastic in a mottled brown colour, L:84.5cm. There are also 8 fans; (1) white ostrich feather,cream sticks with gold decoration. (2) lilac ostrich feather, plastic tortoiseshell effect sticks. (3) Cream fabric decorated with white flowers and silver sequins, white wooden sticks with silver decoration. (4) paper with green flowers and white lace-type pattern along edge, wooden sticks. (5) same as 4 but with blue flowers. (6) black paper with silver decoration and purple flowers, white and silver wooden sticks. (7) blue paper with butterflies and pink flowers, blue wooden sticks. (8) black immitation laquer decorated with Chinese figures and dragons. It is decorated on both sides and each stick has a different character at the top. It is held together with a bright pink ribbon. There are 6 tablecloths of varying size and design. They all have some form of decoration, either embroidery, open work or crocheted edges. The photograph of Rita and her book of verse 'Shaken Strings) were loaned for display and later returned.
