Blazer, cap and scarf from Bridlington School plus ten photographs (copies mounted on board) relating to Neville Voase and his younger brother Stephen. They both attended Bridlington School as boarders in the 1920s - 30s. Neville was an able cricketer, like his father Frank. He played for Hull Cricket Club, and continued to wear his school blazer as a cricket blazer. He is shown in the 1933 official photograph wearing it, back row, 3rd from left. Neville served with Leicestershire Regiment during the Second World War, seeing service in North africa, Palestine, Greece, Italy and Austria. On demobilization he returned to the family business, G.S. Voase and Sons, ironmongers of Whitam. On a day trip to Aldbrough he met Eileen Bird* and they married in 1950. They spent their honeymoon at St. Leonards Hotel in Bridlington. In 1961 Neville left the family business and bought a news agency on Anlaby Common in Hull. The family lived there until their retirement in 1981. Neville died in 1999, Eileen in 2006. (*See record 2009.102.1 for more information about the Bird Family.)
