Man's swimming costume, possibly of cotton. One piece, dark blue, trimmed at the neck, arms and legs with red bands. Two buttons on either shoulder to fasten the garment. Used by William H. Hoggard, who rescued J. Allerston, at Bridlington, on 9th September 1900. See also 1999.16 (certificate). Allerston was a young boy, the son of a Bridlington newsagent. He had been playing on the quay side and fallen into the harbour, from where Hoggard rescued him. The event was recorded in the Bridlington Free Press of 14th September 1900.
