Description:

Tinted postcard showing the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Company's steamship 'SS Irwell', which was built in 1906. Went to Bordeaux in May 1940 and spent the war on the Larne/Loch Ryan 'milk run'. Brought back to Goole by Captain Harman in April 1945, then resumed the Ghent/antwerp service. Grounded on the Trent training wall in January 1948, refloated and sent to Grimsby for repairs. Scrapped in 1954.
