Bio:

Several members of the Havell family were engravers, though some were also drawing masters or water colour painters. This R. Havell might be Charles Richard (1827-1892), Robert the elder (Born in Reading 1769, died in London 1832, apprenticed with his father and later worked in his own right), Robert junior (born Reading 1793, died North Yorks 1878, became famous for Audubon's "Birds of America", 1827-39 and was noted for other aquatints and fine plates taken from drawings by Mrs Edward Bien), or, finally, another Robert, whose floruit was 1800-1840 and who worked as an engraver and publisher.
